A big city zoo in Boston, certified Sensory Inclusive through KultureCity, with free sensory bags (leave an ID) at the admissions booths, communication boards in two spots, a social story and free parking.
Sensory supports. Sensory bags, communication boards, KultureCity.
Hours
Through November 8: daily 9 am to 4 pm. November 9 to March 31: daily 9 am to 4 pm; closed Thanksgiving and Christmas Day. Last ticket sold one hour before closing.
“Franklin Park Zoo is proud to be Sensory Inclusive Certified through our partnership with KultureCity.”
“Sensory bags containing fidget tools, verbal cue cards, noise canceling headphones and other resources are available for checkout (at no cost by leaving an ID) at our admissions booths.”
The zoo names no quiet room, and re-entry isn't allowed, so plan your breaks inside: the bag's headphones and cue cards, and a stop at a communication board.
There's no nurse or medical facility on grounds. Staff give basic first aid supplies when an adult asks, and can call EMTs. Bandaids and first aid kits are at the admissions booths.
The zoo may close or change its hours for special events, announced ahead.
Prices vary by day and time; booking online ahead is usually lowest, with a $1.50 fee per ticket. Children under 2 are always free. Massachusetts EBT and WIC cardholders pay $7 per person for up to four people, through December 31, 2026.
Parking is free. Accessible parking is in the lot across from the Zebra entrance and the lot next to the Giraffe entrance.
Strollers rent for $5 single, $7 double. Wheelchairs are $5 and scooters $20; reserve at 617-989-2076, Monday to Friday, 9 am to 5 pm, at least a day ahead.
Bring your own lunch or a cooler; there are picnic areas, and the Farmhouse Café has meals and grab-and-go food. Straws aren't allowed.
A family restroom with an adult-size changing table is in Nature's Neighborhoods.
