Sensory Friendly Christmas Party, Three sessions: 9 am (Little Rockers, ages 0 to 5), 4 pm and 6:30 pm (all ages). Two hours of open play with holiday games, Christmas crafts, snacks and “sensory-friendly activities”. The gym says spots fill very quickly and there is usually a waitlist, so register early and cancel if plans change. Free, thanks to a sponsor. Register each child; grown-ups don't register.Rockin' Sensory Santa Visit, 3 to 6 pm. Open play, a Christmas craft and cookies, plus a visit with Santa in the party room, one family at a time, whenever your kid is ready. “No waiting in a crowded line, no pressure to sit on Santa's lap, and no need to rush!” A chat, a photo from a distance, sitting nearby or enjoying it in their own way all count. $20 per child, adults free. Register ahead.

When it's quieter

The gym “offers dedicated Sensory-Friendly Open Play hours every Monday.” “During these times, we intentionally limit capacity to create a less crowded space and offer sensory supports such as noise-canceling headphones, adjustable lighting, and the option to lower or turn off music as needed.”

Sensory open play is “just our normal open play experience with fewer guests in the space at one time.” “Spots are limited and tend to fill quickly, so we strongly encourage reserving your admission pass in advance.”

  • Sensory-friendly open play is a two-hour pass you book online. The gym calls Monday its regular day, but sessions move from week to week, so book the pass first and go only on a day you could book. If no sensory times come up, call 719-432-8383.
  • It's the same gym and the same equipment, just fewer kids at once. If your kid finds crowds hard, that is the visit to try first.

Three things to know

  1. Sensory-friendly open play caps the number of kids and offers noise-canceling headphones, adjustable lights, and music turned down or off.
  2. There is a calming room in the gym.
  3. No shoes on the gym floor. Grown-ups need socks, and the gym sells them if you forget.
