Getting ready for the Pikes Peak Center.

Downtown Colorado Springs' big performing arts hall, home to the Colorado Springs Philharmonic, touring Broadway shows and holiday shows like The Nutcracker. Every visit starts with walk-through metal detectors, and once you leave, you can't come back in.

Know before you go. The Pikes Peak Center doesn't list sensory-friendly performances or a quiet room. Here's what it does say about getting in, bags and breaks.

Hours

Show times vary; see the events page. Allow extra time at the door for the metal detectors.

190 South Cascade Avenue, Colorado Springs 80903

What to expect

  • Waits

The center uses walk-through metal detectors. “When you arrive, please allow yourself some extra time to clear the detectors and take your seats before the show.”

  • Rules

“Pikes Peak Center has a no re-entry policy. Guests may not leave the facility and re-enter on event days.”

  • Rules

“NO large bags, backpacks, or purses will be permitted into the venue.” Allowed: small purses or clear bags up to 12 by 5 by 12 inches, “Medically necessary items that have been inspected by security,” and “Small diaper bags.”

  • Space

“All restrooms in The Pikes Peak Center have diaper-changing stations available and are accessible to persons with disabilities. Restrooms are located on the main level and mezzanine on the North & South ends of the building.”

  • Rules

“Strollers are not permitted in the seating sections.” Children under 2 usually sit on a lap without a ticket, but not at every show.

  • iPads aren't allowed in. If your kid talks with an iPad, call guest services at 719-477-2100 before the show to ask whether it counts as a medically necessary item.
  • Because there is no re-entry, the lobby is your break space. Find it on the way in.
